Job Description:

As a Fabric Engineer at The Shard, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and maintain the fabric and infrastructure of the iconic Shard building, one of London's most renowned landmarks. You will be working for Integral UK, a leading provider of facilities and property management services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance and Repair: Carry out general fabric maintenance and repair tasks within the Shard building, including walls, floors, ceilings, and other fabric elements.
  2. Asset Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the fabric infrastructure to identify and address any issues, ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality.
  3. Reactive Maintenance: Respond promptly and effectively to reactive maintenance requests, resolving issues efficiently to minimize disruption to tenants and visitors.
  4. Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Follow a planned maintenance schedule, executing PPM tasks to prevent potential fabric-related issues and extend the lifespan of building elements.
  5. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and abide by company policies. Maintain accurate records of work performed and any necessary documentation.
  6. Contractor Management: Liaise with external contractors, overseeing their work, ensuring adherence to project specifications, and ensuring the highest standards of workmanship.
  7. Building Relationships: Foster positive working relationships with tenants, visitors, and internal stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service and resolving any fabric-related concerns.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in fabric maintenance, ideally within a commercial or large-scale building environment.
  • Understanding of building fabric systems, materials, and relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address construction-related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with tenants, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
  • Flexibility in working hours, as some tasks may need to be completed outside regular working hours.
